AONL Urges Nurse Leaders to Meet with Lawmakers in October
AONL encourages nurse leaders to set up visits with their lawmakers at their organizations or within their communities to discuss issues affecting the nursing workforce, workplace safety and patient care during the congressional recess. Lawmakers are in their home states and districts to campaign ahead of the Nov. 3 election. District work periods provide opportunities for leaders to help lawmakers understand how policy decisions affect their organizations and communities. AONL shares key priorities for nurse leaders to discuss with their legislators are reauthorizing Title VIII Workforce Programs and protecting healthcare workers from workplace violence. The AHA includes mitigating Medicaid losses as a key priority when Congress resumes on Nov. 9 for the lame-duck session .
