AONL’s Zangerle Named to Most Influential Clinical Execs List

Modern Healthcare named AONL CEO Claire Zangerle, DNP, RN, in its 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives, an annual list of individuals who use their expertise to shape their organizations’ strategies and drive transformation throughout healthcare. Zangerle, who also serves as senior vice president and chief nurse executive of the American Hospital Association, spearheaded initiatives “to further operational, financial and clinical leadership among decision-makers in nursing,” Modern Healthcare wrote. Such initiatives included the creation of workforce analytics tools such as the span of accountability index and the return on investment calculator to help health systems assess the impact of allocating resources to nursing. Modern Healthcare also noted Zangerle “strengthened the organization’s policy presence by advocating for healthcare workforce violence prevention.” (Modern Healthcare article, 6/9/25)
