Hospitals Against Violence webinar tackles gun violence

The American Hospital Association’s Hospitals Against Violence program will address the problem of gun violence in a webinar, “Confronting the Burden of Firearm Injury: The Role of Clinicians.” Firearm violence is the leading cause of premature death in the United States, with data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showing nearly 40,000 people dying from firearm-related injuries in 2017. Those attending the webinar will learn who is most at risk of firearm-related death; how violence, firearms and health care intersect; steps hospital leaders and staff can take to mitigate the risk of injury; and which evidence-based tools can be used for prevention. The webinar will be held July 22 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
