Critical Condition: Lessons Learned From a Cyberattack

University Medical Center (UMC) Health System is a large academic health system with more than 500 staffed beds serving West Texas — supporting care in 27 surrounding counties. Headquartered in Lubbock, UMC houses the region’s only Level 1 trauma center and only burn center between Albuquerque and Dallas. In partnership with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, UMC serves as the primary teaching hospital for nurses, physicians and a wide range of other health care professionals. The system includes more than 30 clinic locations and supports over 910,000 patient encounters annually.
