CMS announces Rhode Island, area of New York to participate in AHEAD model
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Oct. 28 announced that Rhode Island and a subsection of New York have been selected to participate in the third cohort of the States Advancing All-Payer Health Equity Approaches and Development Model. The Cohort 3 pre-implementation period begins January 2025. The voluntary all-payer model will hold participating states accountable for curbing health care cost growth and improving population health outcomes. Other states participating in the AHEAD model are Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland and Vermont. Each state will receive a cooperative agreement from CMS with the opportunity to receive as much as $12 million during the first five to six years of the model to support implementation.
