Nursing organizations criticize proposed change to student loan program

Collaboration between AONL and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing to describe successful academic-practice partnership models is detailed in a January Voice of Nursing Leadership article. Written by authors from AONL and AACN, the article discusses the playbook jointly released in November 2025 which highlights adaptable models for integrating academic and practice. The authors maintain partnerships centered on competency-based education offer a sustainable and scalable model for preparing more graduates who are prepared to practice. They call on nursing leaders to invest in early alignment, shared accountability and continuous improvement of academic-practice partnerships to contribute to a stronger, more equitable workforce.
