Building Governance Readiness: A Conversation for Nurse Leaders
For many nurse leaders interested in board service, understanding where to start is often the biggest challenge. This webinar offers a candid conversation about governance pathways, informed by firsthand board and nominating committee experience. Participants will explore the Nurses on Boards Coalition’s Board Competencies Model and the Board Readiness Assessment tool can help identify strengths and areas for growth. AONL members will gain clarity on the types of boards nurses serve on, common entry points into governance and practical resources to support their next leadership step toward board service.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the difference between governance and operational leadership competencies.
- Understand areas of opportunity that exist in board governance competencies through assessment.

Cole Edmonson, DNP, RN, FAONL, FAAN, CEO, Nurses on Boards Coalition
Edmonson has a career spanning 3 decades with executive roles in health systems, industry, and non-profits. He has served as a board member in national organizations.

Pam Rudisill, DNP,RN,NEA-BC,FAONL,FAAN, Vice President Nursing Excellence, ECU Health
Rudisill has functioned in executive roles for large health care systems as well as clinical roles. She had served on National Nursing Boards serving as Past President of AONL and Chair of NOBC. She is currently on the NOBC board. In addition Rudisill has published extensively in the literature on various topics including Value of Nurses on Boards.
