AHA podcast explores how telehealth has improved care at Nantucket hospital

In an American Hospital Association podcast, Nantucket Cottage Hospital President and Chief Operating Officer Amy Lee, MJ, explains how the 14-bed, island-based facility off the coast of Massachusetts relies on telehealth to improve care. The hospital, part of Mass General Brigham in Boston, only transfers 3% of patients. Being part of Mass General Brigham enables Nantucket Cottage Hospital to provide a telemedicine neonatal intensive care unit and tele-newborn program for cases requiring higher levels of expertise, as well as offering 40 specialties to patients. Access to specialists expands the services the hospital can provide and offers reassurance to its workforce and patients. In certain cases, patients go off island to undergo a procedure, but Nantucket Cottage Hospital handles follow-up care.
