AONL CEO Zangerle profiled in Nurse Leader
The December issue of Nurse Leader profiles AONL CEO Claire Zangerle, DNP, RN. Zangerle, who also serves as American Hospital Association senior vice president and CNE, discussed how her role as the voice of nursing for the AHA enables her to share with hospital and health system executives the issues important to nursing and nurse leadership. She became active in AONL as an appointed board member after she became CEO of a post-acute care organization and struggled to find resources for leaders in the post-acute care setting. “While professional organizations offer many member benefits,” she said, “I believe the number one benefit is the sense of community membership offers.” When Zangerle began to participate in AONL committees, she found like-minded colleagues. “The sense of belonging gave me confidence and has been highly fulfilling and rewarding, which is why I urge all nurses to join professional organizations,” she added. Last month, Zangerle was named a nurse leader to watch by HealthLeaders.
