AONL supports SHARE Act

In a letter to senators, AONL expresses support for the States Handling Access Reciprocity Employment Act (S. 1101). The bipartisan legislation would reduce barriers for states in granting multi-state licenses to nurses practicing under the Nurse Licensure Compact by providing state boards with consistent access to Federal Bureau of Investigations criminal background checks. The bill would allow hospitals to hire and assign nurses across state lines more efficiently, expanding nurses’ access to in-person or telehealth job opportunities. Separately, AONL signed a Nursing Community Coalition letter to Reps. Tim Walberg, R-Mich., and Joe Courtney, D-Conn., thanking them for introducing legislation (H.R. 3170) to authorize nurse practitioners to certify disabilities and oversee treatment for injured or ill federal employees under the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act.
