Administration should withdraw proposed rule on federal grants, NCC says
AONL and 45 other members of the Nursing Community Coalition requested the Trump administration withdraw a proposed rule that would give federal agencies broader discretion to modify federal award conditions and impose additional requirements during the award’s life. The rule would permit the administration to suspend or terminate funding based on evolving agency priorities. The NCC said the changes “will increase uncertainty and instability within the grant process,” negatively affecting nursing students, researchers and scientists. They say recipients must be able to rely on stable funding for institutional planning, hiring essential staff and ensuring they have necessary resources to fulfill grant requirements. The American Hospital Association also urged the administration to withdraw the rule. Nearly 94% of the 500,000 comments received oppose the rule. (NCC letter, 7/13/26)
