Joint Commission launches Speak Up Against Discrimination

On Tuesday, the Joint Commission released Speak Up Against Discrimination, an educational campaign to encourage patients to speak up if discriminated against while receiving health care. The campaign informs patients of their rights, including timely and appropriate care, free from discrimination; courteous and respectful treatment; and access to an interpreter who can help effectively communicate with care providers. The Joint Commission is offering organizations an informational poster in both English and Spanish and an animated video featuring examples of discrimination. (Joint Commission news release, 10/5/21)
