NCC Urges Congress to Advance Nursing Priorities

During National Nurses Week, the Nursing Community Coalition, including AONL representatives, met with congressional staff to press for action on urgent nursing workforce priorities. The conversations reinforced the letter NCC sent to congressional members outlining its fiscal year 2027 appropriations request. In the letter, the NCC calls for Congress to invest $610 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and at least $215 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research. The NCC also urged lawmakers to support the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025 (S. 1874/H.R. 3593), a bipartisan bill that provides a reauthorization of the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development programs through fiscal year 2030. The bill also would permit existing funding to support clinical education, nurse preceptors and faculty and to promote academic-practice partnerships. (NCC letter, 5/11/26)
