NCC calls for passage of bill allowing cross-state licensure

AONL and 54 other members of the Nursing Community Coalition encouraged House leaders to pass bipartisan legislation this Congress that would help ensure efficient pathways to cross-state licensure for licensed professionals, supporting patient access to care. The States Handling Access to Reciprocity for Employment (SHARE) Act (S. 1101/H.R. 2332) would make technical corrections to current law to ensure states participating in interstate occupational licensure compacts receive criminal background check information through a smooth and efficient process. State licensing agencies sometimes encounter inconsistent roadblocks when requesting Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal background checks when vetting prospective licensees under an interstate compact. The bill unanimously passed out of committee in June. (Nursing Community Coalition letter, 9/15/26)
