Prominent nurse researchers discuss NINR’s enduring impact
A JAMA Health Forum editorial authored by eminent University of Pennsylvania nurse researchers stresses the importance of nursing research and the relevance of the National Institute of Nursing Research. NINR, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, has come under attack by the current administration. However, Congress has proposed maintaining NINR funding. The authors say NINR funds research promoting health across the lifespan that improves care and saves costs. They maintain NINR is poised to lead science contributing to a healthy nation and addressing chronic illnesses across the life course; promotes the health and well-being of an aging society; and leverages artificial intelligence to improve quality and efficiency of care.
