Trust in measles vaccines falls, Reuters poll finds

A Reuters/Ipsos poll found 76% of Americans consider the measles vaccine safe for kids, down from 84% in 2020. The online, nationwide poll tabulated responses from 1,143 U.S. adults; it has a margin of error of 3 percentage points. The decline is troubling, as the U.S. has confirmed more than 3,000 infections this year, the most in 35 years. Pennsylvania reported four outbreak-related deaths from unvaccinated individuals. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is not reporting any measles deaths because it switched from using state data collected via the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System to count measles deaths to data from the National Center for Health Statistics.
