NCC urges Congress to honor U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps

AONL was one of 58 organizations to urge leadership from the Senate and House Committees on the Armed Services to include recognition for the United States Cadet Nurse Corps in the fiscal year 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) (H.R. 7900/S. 4543). Specifically, the letter from the Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) urged leadership to retain language during conference negotiations that was included in the House-passed NDAA honoring the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. Separately, the NCC sent a letter to the newly confirmed Under Secretary for Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Shereef Elnahal, MD, welcoming him and pledging to work with him to improve veteran’s health through nursing care. AONL is one of 63 national nursing organizations that make up the NCC. (NCC letter, 8/23/22)
