AONL QuickHit Insight Survey explores LPN/LVN integration

Nearly 75% of nurse leaders anticipate maintaining or expanding licensed practical nurse and licensed vocational nurse utilization over the next two years, despite persistent implementation barriers, according to AONL’s latest Quick Hit survey. Conducted in collaboration with the Chartis Center for Burnout Solutions, the survey gathered responses from 827 nurse leaders representing 374 hospitals and 245 health systems. Nearly 70% of nurse leader respondents cited role clarity, delegation and team workflow challenges as the top barrier to integrating LPN/LVNs across care settings. Other barriers included scope-of-practice limitations (65%); training, onboarding or supervision capacity (27%); and difficulty recruiting or retaining LPN/LVNs (24%). An executive summary offers additional findings on how nurse leaders are approaching LPN/LVN integration and shaping the future of team-based care.
