Begley: Hospitals should revisit credentialing to support well-being

AONL CEO Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, co-authored an American Hospital Association blog urging hospitals to ensure their questions on licensing, credentialing and other applications do not perpetuate stigma or deter clinicians from seeking behavioral health services when needed. With many clinicians facing burnout, health care providers should have the same opportunities as anyone else to receive needed behavioral health care, the authors noted. Begley, who co-wrote the blog as part of National Suicide Prevention Month in September, also serves as AHA CNO and senior vice president of workforce. The AHA also offered a podcast with a behavioral health leader from Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health discussing ideas and best practices to ensure every health care worker receives support across the organization.
