Bill would increase nurse faculty

AONL-supported legislation recently introduced in the House would address the nursing faculty shortage. Introduced by Reps. David Joyce, R-Ohio, Suzanne Bonamici, D-Ore., Jennifer Kiggans, R-Va., and Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., The Nurse Faculty Shortage Reduction Act (H.R. 7002) would establish a pilot program to increase wages for nurse educators and support efforts to recruit and retain faculty. It also would prioritize programs serving vulnerable populations, as well as programs recruiting and retaining faculty from underrepresented backgrounds. Sens. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., introduced companion legislation. (Rep. Joyce news release, 1/22/24)
