CMS urges hospitals to implement maternity safety bundles

Chiquita Brooks-LaSure, administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), announced the agency is taking critical steps to ensure pregnant and postpartum individuals have access to equitable, comprehensive maternity care. Encouraging hospitals to adopt “maternal safety bundles” was among the steps Brooks-LaSure mentioned. The administration is taking a wide range of actions to improve maternal health outcomes. The various initiatives were announced during a Dec. 7 White House summit and were detailed on the Health and Human Services website. (CMS news release, 12/14/21)
