CNO discusses plusses of 'quiet management’

Communicating clear expectations and goals enables Chief Nursing Executive Karen Frenier, BSN, RN, to lead her team without micromanaging. Frenier, who also serves as senior vice president of human resources at Orlando (Fla.) Health, embraces “quiet management” ─ a practice where managers provide workers with what they need to be successful and then allow them to deliver. She enables team members to fix problems, and she strives to remove obstacles hindering their work. She also seeks to support them with the right tools and technology to enhance their work. In addition, Frenier prefers huddles instead of formal sit-down meetings. (Becker’s Hospital Review article, 1/12/24)
