HRSA opens applications for ANEW program

The Health Resources and Services Administration last week opened applications for the Advanced Nursing Education Workforce program. Schools of nursing, nursing centers, academic health centers and others can apply to the program, which seeks to increase the number of primary care nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and certified nurse midwives. Awardees provide tuition and other eligible supports to trainees, build academic-practice partnerships, and develop and sustain clinical faculty and preceptors. HRSA will prioritize organizations who recruit students and faculty from diverse backgrounds and train APRNs to work in underserved and rural communities or state and local health departments. The application deadline is April 7.
