SAMHSA updates overdose prevention toolkit

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration released an updated Overdose Prevention and Response Toolkit. The manual provides guidance to a wide range of people, including practitioners and those employed at health systems, on preventing and responding to an overdose. The toolkit stresses harm reduction and access to treatment are essential to preventing overdoses. Intended to prevent overdoses and improve reversal training, the toolkit offers guidance on the role of opioid overdose reversal medications, including naloxone and nalmefene.
