Time management course helps nurse leaders 'control the chaos'

When nurse leaders at Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health expressed frustration at how difficult it was to “control the chaos” brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, AONL board member Claire Zangerle, DNP, RN, chief nurse executive, came up with a novel way to help. She hired a cognitive behavioral therapist to survey Allegheny’s nurse leaders and devise a 21-day time-management course tailored to their needs. The 300-plus individuals who took the course feel “a lot more in control, and that contributes significantly to their wellness," Zangerle told HealthLeaders Media. Managers said they would like to offer the course to their assistants. (HealthLeaders Media article, 1/31/22)
