CDC to take back control of COVID-19 hospital data collection

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will resume control of COVID-19 hospital data collection in mid-December, according to a Bloomberg news article. The U.S. will not renew its contract with the privately held TeleTracking Technologies Inc., which took over COVID-19 hospitalization data collection from the CDC in 2020. Earlier this week, the CDC announced a reorganization resulting from its COVID-19 response. Also in COVID-19 news, observational data from a large Canadian study published in Lancet Infectious Diseases found that COVID-19 mRNA vaccines are safe for pregnant women.
