AARP raises concerns of hospital-at-home programs for caregivers

AARP Public Policy Institute and ATI Advisory released a recent brief and full report addressing concerns about the expectations of family caregivers in hospital-at-home programs. The brief recommends hospital-at-home programs clarify that participation is voluntary for patients and caregivers and eliminate barriers related to access and equity issues. Programs should provide clear information to patients and caregivers about the program, expectations and services. In addition, programs should meet caregivers’ needs and incorporate their voice and preferences. The brief also calls for further research on the programs and their impact on caregivers.
