HHS Project NextGen to study novel COVID-19 vaccines, technologies

The Department of Health and Human Services Administration this week awarded over $500 million to prepare for clinical trial three COVID-19 vaccine candidates. These candidates target better or longer-lasting immune response; increase central laboratory capacity for sample testing; and investigate better ways to develop monoclonal antibodies and evaluate and administer vaccines. HHS’ Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response oversees Project NextGen to accelerate and streamline the rapid development of the next generation of vaccines and treatments through public-private partnerships to fight COVID-19.
