CDC finds racial disparities in use of monoclonal antibody therapies

Use of monoclonal antibody therapies between November 2020 and August 2021 was lower among patients who were Black, Asian or of other races compared with white and non-Hispanic patients, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The researchers analyzed data from 41 health care systems participating in the National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network. They found overall use of monoclonal antibody therapies was infrequent, with 4% or fewer COVID-positive patients receiving the treatment. (CDC news release, 1/14/22)
