CDC limits entry to U.S. from countries experiencing Ebola

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention blocked entry to the U.S. for people who traveled to Ebola-affected nations, although it says the threat to the American public remains low. The U.S. government started requiring all U.S.-bound American citizens and permanent residents who have been to the Ebola-affected nations within the last three weeks to go through enhanced screening at Washington Dulles International airport conducted by the CDC and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The World Health Organization director-general reported nearly 600 suspected cases of Ebola and 139 suspected deaths from Ebola in the Congo and Uganda. There are 51 confirmed cases in the Congo, along with two confirmed cases among people who traveled from the Congo to Uganda. (MedPage Today article, 5/18/26)
