NCC urges Senate committees to support nursing funding
In a letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee leadership, AONL and 61 other Nursing Community Coalition members reiterated their fiscal year 2027 appropriations request of at least $610 million for Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and $210 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research. The letter also seeks inclusion of bipartisan language recognizing post-baccalaureate nursing programs as professional degree programs. Separately, the Nursing Community Coalition’s 65 members urged the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee to advance the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2025 (S. 1874) before the August recess. The bill would reauthorize Title VIII programs from FYs 2026 through 2030, addressing nursing education, practice, recruitment and retention, and ensure patients nationwide can continue to access high-quality nursing care.
