Nearly 170 nursing organizations urge passage of Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act

AONL and 166 other national and state-level organizations urged congressional leaders to pass the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act (S. 1874/H.R. 3593) before the end of the 119th Congress on Jan. 3, 2027. Organized by the Nursing Community Coalition, the organizations signing the letter represent patients, healthcare providers, nurses, nursing students, faculty, researchers and other healthcare stakeholders. The groups say the proven Title VIII programs “address all aspects of nursing demand, including education, practice, recruitment and retention.” They say reauthorization is vital to “secure future strategic investments in our country’s nursing workforce and, ultimately, to protect our nation’s health.” The bills ─ a top AONL and NCC priority ─ passed out of their respective Senate and House committees earlier this Congress.
