RWJF seeks nurses affecting health outside clinical settings

Nurses are integral to many community-based efforts to address the social determinants of health. They sometimes lead those efforts as well—from within their home institutions, as active members of profession organizations and as civic leaders. But Beth Toner, RN, senior communications officer at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), says, “[W]e don’t hear these stories nearly as much as we should.” She asks nurses to contact her with stories of how they are helping people and communities overcome non-medical challenges negatively affecting physical, mental and emotional health. Interested parties can contact the foundation using this online form. (Campaign for Action story, 10/7/19)
