FDA proposes easy-to-understand medication guides

The Food and Drug Administration this week proposed requiring a new type of medication guide called Patient Medication Information for prescription drugs and certain biological products used, dispensed or administered on an outpatient basis, as well as for blood and blood components transfused in an outpatient setting. The agency intends for the guide to provide patients with clear, concise and useful written information to aid them in using the products safely and effectively. Comments on the proposed rule are due November 27. (FDA news release, 5/30/23)
