Nursing research influenced pandemic health care

During the COVID-19 pandemic, nurse researchers investigated questions with the potential to inform practice, improve care and influence public health. Nurses studied the use of proning to delay intubation; they chronicled the pandemic’s stresses on critical care nurses; they investigated the relationship between staffing and burnout; and they looked into how social factors influenced choices about COVID-19 vaccination. Hospitals are increasingly hiring nurse researchers or consultants who can help staff design and implement studies. (Nurses.com article, 5/6/21)
