SAMHSA to fund $281 million for addiction, overdose programs

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration will fund more than $281 million for substance-use disorder treatment, overdose prevention and response, mental health and suicide prevention, trauma-informed care, integrated care, recovery supports, first responder training, privacy education and workforce development. Among the grants, SAMHSA will allocate $13.7 million to promote full integration and collaboration in clinical practices between physical and behavioral healthcare and $68.2 million to expand access to medications for opioid-use disorder, increase treatment and recovery availability for people with opioid-use disorder and decrease illicit opioid use and prescription opioid misuse and overdose.
