Administration Asks Supreme Court to Overturn ACA

The Trump administration submitted a brief last week asking the Supreme Court to overturn the Affordable Care Act (ACA). If successful, the request would discontinue health care coverage for up to 23 million Americans, eliminate protections for preexisting conditions and end the expansion of Medicaid. The American Hospital Association along with other stakeholders and 36 state hospital associations urged the court to reverse an earlier decision by a federal appeals court and uphold the ACA in its entirety. Oral arguments have yet to be scheduled, but will most likely occur in the fall. (New York Times story, 6/26/20)
