ANA releases updated policies on HIV and related conditions

The American Nurses Association (ANA) this week released 13 updated policy statements on the prevention and care for HIV and related conditions. “Our nation cannot solve this epidemic without nurses,” said ANA President Ernest Grant, PhD, RN. “These policy statements demonstrate nurses’ pivotal role in both prevention and treatment and support national strategies and goals around HIV and AIDS care.” In the 13 policy statements, the ANA articulated its positions on issues such as full practice authority related to care for high-risk groups, access to care for underserved groups and the need for patient-and-family-centered care addressing psychosocial concerns and symptom management.
