GAO appoints nurse scholar to MedPAC

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) has appointed Betty Rambur, PhD, RN, to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (Med PAC). Rambur, was nominated by the Nursing Consortium of which AONL is a member. She serves as the endowed chair for practice at the University of Rhode Island College of Nursing and recently served on Vermont’s five-member Green Mountain Care Board, a quasi-judicial body with oversight of health care in the state. She led North Dakota’s statewide health reform efforts and continues to provide policy leadership as a member of Rhode Island’s Cost Trends Steering Committee. According to the Consortium, Rambur brings “unique strengths to the commission at the intersection of health care financing, payment reform and alternative payment models for rural health care.“ MedPAC advises Congress on payments to providers in Medicare’s traditional fee-for-service programs and to health plans participating in the Medicare Advantage program.
