HRSA provides $20 million to address maternal mortality

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) this week announced more than $20 million in funding to improve maternal and infant health and implement the White House Blueprint for Addressing the Maternal Health Crisis. Funding seeks to reduce disparities in maternal and birth outcomes, and expand and diversify the workforce caring for pregnant and postpartum individuals. It also aims to increase access to obstetrics care in rural community and support states in addressing inequities in maternal and infant health. Nine grantees will receive $9 million through HRSA’s State Maternal Health Innovation Program to create state-led maternal health task forces bringing key leaders and pregnant and postpartum individuals together and using state-specific maternal health data to develop and use innovative approaches to reduce maternal health disparities.
