CDC: COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to climb

COVID-19 hospital admissions rose 18.8% to 15,067 from Aug. 13 to Aug. 19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 1.7% of all deaths from Aug. 13 to 19 were due to COVID-19, a 21.4% change from the prior week. Though the numbers are increasing, the rates are about 2.5 times lower compared to the same time last year and about 5.5 times lower compared to 2021. The American Hospital Association released an infographic on strategies clinicians and the CDC have used to encourage COVID-19 vaccinations among children.
