AHRQ seeks units to take part in MRSA prevention effort

Intensive care and other hospital units are invited to take part in a free 18-month MRSA-prevention program designed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Participating sites will receive expert coaching, online training, tools and resources to help protect patients and strengthen their unit’s patient safety efforts. More than 323,000 MRSA cases are detected in hospitalized patients annually. Additionally, preliminary data analyses found increases in hospital-onset resistant infections like MRSA during the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations do not need to be accredited or certified by the Joint Commission to participate in the program, which begins in April. (Joint Commission Online article, 2/16/22)
