Northwell Health develops toolkit for clinicians to reduce gun violence

Northwell Health says it has developed a digital toolkit intended to help healthcare providers implement gun-violence prevention programs in healthcare settings. The New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based health system says the toolkit summarizes 100 strategies healthcare systems can adapt, implement and scale at the system, community, clinical and organizational levels. The toolkit provides healthcare leaders and front-line staff with strategies to tailor best practices to unique patient and geographic contexts, overcome common barriers to implementation and identify sustainable funding. More than 44,000 U.S. residents were killed by a firearm in 2024, an average of 122 deaths per day, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
