AONL CEO Presents Nursing Interventions to NAM Committee

Robyn Begley, DNP, RN, AONL chief nursing officer and senior vice president of the American Hospital Association (AHA), spoke this week about the ways health care organizations are incorporating the social determinants of health in care delivery. Her presentation highlighted examples of nurses working within health systems to improve the health of their communities and individual patients by addressing social needs. "Nurses are a key player in that work and have the opportunity to innovate and develop new solutions for the future," Begley told the Future of Nursing 2020-2030 study committee, which was information for a forthcoming report. Begley’s co-presenter, Priya Bathija, JD, MHSA, vice president of the AHA’s The Value Initiative, added, "Hospitals are putting patient experience at the center of what they do by developing new models of care and embracing new strategies to improve value and health equity." Their presentation slides are available on the NAM website. (AHA Today story, 11/20/19)
