Free course helps nurses become design thinkers

Design Thinking for Health, a free, online course, offers nurses a framework and tools they can use when tackling complex challenges in the workplace. Developed by the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing and the Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation, the course aims to deliver design training to nurses regardless of their experience level or location. According to an article in the American Journal of Nursing discussing the online course, the first emergency nursing crisis cart, designed by Anita Dorr, RN, in 1967, highlights the value of nurse involvement in design thinking and innovation efforts.
